Piet Blom based his design on similar houses he had already built in Helmond. The cubes are tilted and supported in the middle by a pole, which gives them a somewhat absurd character, because you immediately wonder how people can live in them. All Rotterdam Cube Houses together bear the name of the Blaakse Bos.
